Episode 1 - Locked Up. This episode covers such topics as the massive cost of running prisons around Australia; the lack of work and activity for prisoners; and the problems of overcrowding and the resultant tensions and violence. It also dramatises the process from the police court cells, after sentencing, to the frst day in prison, and prisoners recount their first-time impressions |

Episode 2 - Surviving in the Nick. An examination of life in prison for the young offender who can often be subjected to sexual assault. The program also looks at the availability of drugs in prison and the ever-present risk of AIDS resulting from sexual assault and shared needles |

Episode 3 - The Keepers and the Kept. This episode exaimes the issues of custody and control in prisons. The institutions are looked at from the perspective of prison officers, who discuss the effects the job has on them. It also covers the training of prison officers and the effects on prisoners of high security and isolation |

Episode 4 - The Cycle of Crime. The final episode of the series deals with recidivism, asks where the cycle starts and suggests possible alternatives to imprisonment. It also addresses the question of why the community should care about what happens in our prisons |
