The Professional Standards for Graduates provide a framework of graduating teacher attributes which can be demonstrated in contexts of practice. They also provide a professional scaffold for preservice teacher preparation and serve as a measure of accountability of the readiness of graduating teachers for potentially fulfilling teacher careers. The Standards afford recognition to the independence of higher education institutions in developing their own curriculum, pedagogy and assessment for preservice teacher education programs.
