Delegates from Victorian postsecondary institutions gathered at a 1985 convention held at Deakin to discuss the implications of a national telecommunications network for Victorian postsecondary education. As a result, a Victorian Working Party was formed to coordinate responses to the opportunity offered by AUSSAT, Australia' s domestic satellite, which is to be launched in late 1985
