This report describes the development and rationale of a postgraduate program of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies that seeks "to enhance the skills of professional practitioners so that they are able to plan and implement effective and culturally appropriate research..."
Notes
Summary: "This paper describes the processes involved in developing Postgraduate Programs at the Centre for Aboriginal. Issues relating to the generation and reformation of Indigenous knowledge in university contexts are discussed. The authors argue that despite policies and programs designed to increase participation of Aboriginal people in higher education, many programs still operate in ways that are alien to, or disempower Aboriginal people due to the sole focus on course content and the cultural perspectives of non Aboriginal educators. The authors recognise the politics and problems involved in researching in Indigenous contexts, and conducted a unique form of participatory action research."
