An analysis of data from the 1994 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Study (NATSIS), in which 15,700 people were questioned on what they had done about their children's health. The paper recommends more in-depth research at a community level, particularly engaging Indigenous people into the 'health transitions' hypothesis: the idea that child health improves with increases in the education provided to parents and in particular to young women
