This software-oriented manual is intended to supplement junior- and senior-level texts on digital signal processing (DSP) and to serve as a visualization aid for concepts that are central to understanding DSP principles. It is designed around MATLAB programs for illustration of the following concepts: Discrete-time Signal; DSP in the time domain (including convolution); the periodic spectrum and frequency response; sampling and signal reconstruction; the Discrete Fourier Transform and FFT; effects of the pole-zero placement; and the design of infinite impulse response (IIR) and finite impulse response (FIR). Each routine is interactive and built around simple yet powerful and intuitive point-and-click features. This manual includes basic background and simple examples for each routine. No knowledge of MATLAB or other programming skills is needed
