Summary |
"Melancholia: Chronicle of an Artwork, shows every phase of Melancholia's construction - from Kapoor's London studio - to the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Grand-Hornu, Belgium. We follow the artist as he reflects on Melancholia and the evolution of contemporary art as a whole. As well, the influence of technology on art, and the demise of the artist as a craftsman are examined. Born in Bombay, Anish Kapoor spent the first 17 years of his life in India, and then moved to London where he has lived and worked ever since. The blending of those two different universes is reflected in his work, which generally talks about opposites: man and woman, light and darkness, interior and exterior. " -- website |
