Summary |
"Having achieved worldwide recognition with a Golden Globe Award for her work with Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack for 'Gladiator', Lisa Gerrard's life and work has influenced and touched many people. From her beginnings with the 1980s group Dead Can Dance, through to her success as a Hollywood film composer and a solo artist, Lisa Gerrard's powerful vocal and musical style has captivated fans and filmgoers alike for 20 years. From her childhood amongst the multi-cultural sounds of 1960s Melbourne, her musical influences range from her Celtic ancestry, native Australia, her years living and working in Europe, through to the Middle East. Treating her voice truly as an instrument, used alongside orchestration, she is able to create musical emotions which are timeless. This film is the first intimate portrait of Lisa Gerrard, who shares her deepest most creative and emotional insights on all aspects of her life, beliefs and career. Based on the structure of alchemy, the film is presented in six parts, each signifying corner stones of her life and work. Contains many interviews with various people who have played a part in Lisa's life and career - including: Michael Mann (The Insider, Heat, Ali); Russell Crowe (Gladiator, The Insider); Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down); Graeme Revell (Sin City, 13th Warrior) and Mark Magidson (Baraka)."--website |
