Summary |
Retired spymaster George Smiley is lured back to the 'Circus' - Britain's spy control headquarters, to uncover a top-level mole. Some say George Smiley is in innocent retirement. Others say he was sacked after the Czech scandal. But all agree nobody ever leaves the Circus without some unfinished business. Brought in to trace an infiltrator in the department, the self-effacing master of espionage resolutely moves in to spy on the spies, and finds himself going backwards over very old ground |
