| Summary |
"Anna, a young nurse in Dresden who looks after a wounded British pilot during the dangerous, chaotic days at the end of World War II. Anna's father, Professor Mauth, is the director of the hospital and Anna has given up her university plans to work for him. She is about to become engaged to a dull but ambitious young surgeon, Alexander. Anna is free-spirited, warm-hearted and impetuous. In the last days of World War II, food is rationed and the Soviets are not far away, yet the Nazi regime's iron grip means that deserters and those who hide them or Jews are shot on sight." -- SBS website |
