Summary |
Stephanie Jordan analyses three duets from Siobhan Davies' ballet Rushes, from the point of view of the nature of the material, their spatial organisation and the rhythmic principles involved. The duets are shown in performance, then their structure is analysed in terms of spatial organisation, dynamics and phrasing and the nature of the partnering. Stephanie Jordan outlines how phrases of material used by the choreographer as a starting point are re-moulded and how designs and motifs are treated differently as the dance progresses. Features typical of Davies's work are also discussed |
