Summary |
The author has endeavoured to give in the following romance a picture of Queensland, or rather a limited portion of that vast colony, in its early days as a colony. The characters and incidents are of course entirely fictitious, although being very careful to eb exact with the localities and native colouring, having gone over the ground initially in 1866, lastely approximately in 1886, thus giving him the ability to describe Brisbane as it was in its youth. The book has fictionalised characters such as Raike Morris, Wung Tu, Mr MacSalter and Harley Graves and his son Dan, proving that such men are still to be seen wherever foolish mothers exist and hard working fathers have made a fortune. |
