Summary "The American embargo of supplies led Japan to attack Pearl Harbor. No hesitation marked the decision to utilize the newly-developed atomic bomb on Japan. Experts deemed that it was the quickest way to get the Japanese to surrender. When the war was won in South East Asia and the Pacific, the US was forced to utilize British troops to restore order. They in turn used Japanese forces to quell growing calls for nationalism in the region; this combustible mixture led to the Korean, Vietnam and Cambodian wars." -- website
