Summary These Pregnancy Guidelines clarify many of the issues surrounding pregnancy and work. While pregnancy is a normal, healthy physical condition that many women experience, at work there are a number of anti-discrimination, industrial relations and occupational health and safety laws that cover pregnancy. The intersection of these laws can at times be complex and confusing, consequently the Pregnancy Guidelines aim to address the overlap to help people better understand and adhere to the existing frameworks. The Guidelines provide case study material, information on legal precedents and current laws that cover employees who are pregnant or potentially pregnant, to assist all parties to understand and fulfil their obligations under the federal Sex Discrimination Act 1984
