Summary This case study exemplifies the design of a formative evaluation project concerned with the implementation of a new school form in Austria. The purpose of this case study is to show how multiple methods were implemented in the research project NOESIS (Niederösterreichische Schule in der Schulentwicklung; Lower Austrian Middle School in School Development Process) to gain insights into the views and multiple perspectives of the most important institutional players in this process. The study design is an example of how different methods and perspectives are integrated. Through multiple methods, it is possible to capture the multiple perspectives of those involved in the implementation process because each of the methods creates the object in its own way and the resultant combining can lead to a broader picture of school life
