Summary Two teachers at Dowdales School in Cumbria have adopted a unique way of teaching the relatively new concept of Sustainable Development. Geography teacher Matt Barton and citizenship teacher Martin Ellison work together to bring sustainable development into both their lessons. Using the Chocolate Game, they involve the students in exploring the perspectives of different families & communities involved in the cocoa industry and how buying a bar of chocolate can affect so many lives. Will this change the students thinking when buying a snack? Will they consider buying Fair Trade products? Do they realise that it is their generation who will be directly affected if Sustainable Development is not tackled?
