The $29 billion CJ Corporation, formerly affiliated with Samsung, has long been committed to its philosophy of business patriotism. In recent years the company has been working to integrate its traditional approach to community engagement with the contemporary ideas of Corporate Social Responsibility and Creating Shared Value (CSV). This case describes five proposed projects and invites students to put themselves in the shoes of a CJ Corporation executive responsible for scoring the projects using a CSV Project Assessment Worksheet. This case requires students to process the multifaceted nature of corporatecommunity engagement and recognize the trade-offs associated with different types of investment options
