Summary The thesis is based upon tests of a model for predicting condom use. Anticipation of negative emotions following unprotected intercourse was the strongest predictor of intention to use condoms. Interventions which encourage people to consider the emotions they would experience following unprotected intercourse may prove valuable in promoting condom use
