*Adult Themes*From the director of Samson and Delilah, Warwick Thornton, comes a collection of poignant, sad, funny and absurd true ghost tales from across Australia which he brings to life with some of Australia's most celebrated actors as the storytellers. In April of 2012, Warwick put out a call around Australia for people to come forward with their Indigenous ghost stories. There was only one rule - that the stories must be firsthand. The Koori grapevine went to work and before long he was inundated with ghostly stories from both black and white people from almost every corner of the country. Some people had more than one story, so from 120 people he heard over 150 stories."Aboriginal people live on the threshold of two dimensions. One is a world of everyday reality, and the other a world of spirits, demons and entities. We can live an ordinary life with dead ancestors and demons all vying for space around us."Although we might seem stoic and complacent, with the clash of these two worlds the reality is we are scared shitless. When I embarked on this journey to the other side, I imagined finding a whole bunch of scary as hell ghost stories - but what I ended up finding was a beautiful collection of poignant stories about family and connection," says Thornton.Performers include: Sacha Horler, Jack Charles, Deborah Mailman, Marcia Langton, Bryan Brown, Claudia Karvan, Aaron Pedersen, Shari Sebbens.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Director/Director of Photography Warwick Thornton; Producer Kath Shelper Presented by Scarlett Pictures with ScreenAustralia, Adelaide Film Festival, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation |
