Summary The group of nine young Sydney artists had been Fred Leist students at the National Art School (now East Sydney Technical College) in the convict built Darlinghurst Gaol in the 1930's. They mounted their first exhibition in 1939 at the NSW Teachers Federation Hall in Phillip Street Sydney
