Hosts Sonja Dumas and Rachel Carrington introduce the programme which includes Sonja Dumas Interviewing children about the end of holidays and going back to school; a feature on literacy with segments on learning disabilities and Happy Venture School for slow learners, the principal, Mrs. R. Manswell talks about the school's aims, Mrs. Francesca Wilson, President of the Association of Special Educators in Trinidad & Tobago speaks about the needs of special education, a parent speaks about her child's progress at the school. Mrs. L. Lalla, voluntary teacher at the school speaks about the status of the 'special child' and the influence of sporting activities. Shelley Cole interviews Dala Obika, secretary of the Butler Institute on the literacy programme that it conducts. She also interviews members of the National Organisation for Dedicated Students about their involvement in the litaracy programme. Rachel Carrington interviews Zee Edgell, writer from Belize at the Second Conference of Caribbean Women Writers held April 1990 |
