Summary |
In this paper the authors argue that the observed performance slump of Australian students in international evaluations needs to be viewed as only one measure of our education system and that local measures about school improvement and student achievement should be taken into consideration. Firstly, they critically examine the concept of productivity in relation to educational investment and performance. Secondly, they look at Australian students' performance in NAPLAN, ROGS and national benchmarking in addition to PISA, TIMSS and PIRLS. Finally, they propose shifting the focus of performance evaluation from international to national data sets |
