This is the final episode of the Carbon Cops six-part series. This week the show features the McKinney Lelliotts, who like most families, lead busy lives which means there's no time for being Green.The family, Cath and Mike live in inner city Melbourne with their three kids Rory, Noah and Matilda. The house is always full of people and kids, so they use a lot of energy. The oven is always on and the heating is cranked up all winter, leading to really high bills. Mike's 30-minute showers don't help either!The family had a sneaking suspicion changes needed to be made but what were they? They had signed up to Green Power - a dollar extra and sounded like a good idea, but what did it really mean? And with a busy family and small kids where was the time to consider what they really should be doing? The family was definitely in need of our Carbon Cops, Lish Fejer and Sean Fitzgerald. The Cops' full energy audit of the McKinney house and lifestyle showed up a number of trouble spots.Cath's unusual way of cranking up the heating to full and then opening the windows for some cool air was not doing the environment or their hip pockets any good. Their new extension was also causing problems.A challenge was issued. Could the McKinneys bring their emissions down by 50 per cent? The Cops offered a number of suggestions to help make it a possibility.
