Celebrations looks at a range of cultural and religious celebrations, with an emphasis on the participation of children in these colourful events.For the Juniors, for students aged 6-8 years, aims to stimulate children's curiosity and imagination, widen their horizons and encourage them to explore their environment, present enjoyable experiences which relate broadly to the lives and interests of the children and raise issues.Each series is arranged in groups of programs relating to a particular theme.This program presents Christmas as a time when people show how much they care for others. Whether it's making presents or cooking up a feast, Christmas is portayed as a happy time spent with family and friends. Scenes from a school nativity play help to explain the celebration's religious origins. Traditions such as sending cards, putting up a Christmas tree and writing a note to Santa are all illustrated. The program also shows the preparatoin and sharing of special Christmas foods from a range of cultures |
