Summary Turkey is country lying on the border between the worlds of Europe and the Orient. Manuel goes there with one certainty: sport may only be a modest prism through which we can get to know others, but it also embodies much wider aspirations and issues. Manuel leaves Istanbul and head for the Iraqi border. On the way he meets the olive-oil wrestlers of Edirne, attends a Caucasian feria and with the Kurds discovers an ancestor of baseball. Thanks to sport and to games, the voyage reveals the contradictions of the country, its hopes and fears, and also the complex relationship the Turks have with their past and with their nation.
