Summary Five British boys find a derelict French fishing vessel in a cove near their home, and assisted by Captain Blake, an old ship master, decide to adopt her. With the Captain's assistance they clean her up and fit her out for sailing. The boys are camping aboard her one day when some German prisoners find the ship, and they are unable to prevent them sailing for Spain. The remainder of the story describes their adventures in recapturing the ship and sailing her homewards under the greatest difficulties. When they eventually reach home they are rewarded for their bravery by being presented with the Dauntless by the French government. This is a most exciting and original sea story, which every boy who has ever wanted to sail his own ship will enjoy. -- Dust jacket
