Summary |
During a career spanning 20 years, the band Gogol Bordello has put the gypsy punk music genre on the map with their one-of-a-kind theatrical stage shows and continual touring. Eleven film appearances, seven full-length albums, and a successful Coca-Cola advertising campaign have propelled the group to an incontestable level of stardom. This case study explores how the multicultural Gogol Bordello has navigated the music industry and has been able to craft a niche for itself using grassroots marketing strategies. In addition, it considers and questions the risks and rewards of managing a band such as Gogol Bordello. Finally, while reading this case study, students will be asked to evaluate how developing a band is similar to or different from starting any other business venture |
