Summary |
Janet Hamburg, director of dance in the Dept. of Music and Dance at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, looks back upon her childhood dance training and college education, which ultimately led to her study of Laban movement analysis. She discusses various aspects of this system, which grew out of the work of Rudolf Laban and Warren Lamb, and the related system of Bartenieff Fundamentals, developed by Irmgard Bartenieff. In conclusion, she describes her own application of Laban movement analysis to athletic training and movement work with children and the elderly |
