Notes Mr. Hugh Watson Christie, a well-known lighthouse-keeper, died at the Kent Town Hospital yesterday, 2 March 1927 at the age of 67. In 1892 he was appointed the headkeeper of the Port Charles lighthouse. The Cape Don lighthouse, Northern Territory, was constructed in 1917, and Mr. Christie took charge. He held that position till his retirement in 1925. Mentioned in Songs, Dreamings and Ghosts: the wangga of North Australia
Photographer and surveyor, Charles Hake assisted Arthur Hamilton at the Adam Bay settlement, Northern Territory, in 1864-65. Surviving wet-plate photographs include coastline views, the three ships that brought the party to the settlement, the erection of tents, landing of the stores, establishment of the military quarters, other views of the settlement, local Aboriginal people and various landscapes
