"This is a down-to-earth report. It deals with matters of fact and its recommendations are specific. It will be of interest chiefly to those who are realistic enough to face the problems of education in American society as these problems now exist. Much of the argument over education today is coming from people who are not really interested in facing problems as they exist. They are interested in venting their prejudices or in beating one another about the ears with slogans and battle cries. If the reader belongs in this group, he will find little nourishment here. But if he is in the mood to roll up his sleeves and say "Precisely what can we do tomorrow morning to improve our schools?"--This is his book"--Foreword.
