Summary |
The case is about the training and development process at the Tata Main Hospital (TMH), located at Jamshedpur, a city in the eastern part of India. Operated by Tata Steel, this state-of-the-art hospital catered to the health care needs of thousands of employees of Tata Steel and their dependents. TMH had a comprehensive training process and zealously conducted Training Need Assessments twice a year. It collected various types of data pertaining to the training needs of the organization. On the basis of this data, skill identification, skill assessment, planning and designing of training method, and evaluation were done. Skill assessment of middle level employees was done by senior doctors on the basis of rating (0-4) in a tabulated form. The data collected from seven departments of TMH for early 2013 was in front of the HR managers. It showed the skill mapping of the complete population of the seven departments. Based on this data, the managers now had to plan and design the training programs for the individual departments |
