Summary Mega sporting events such as the Olympics, the World Cup, and the Super Bowl offer numerous benefits to host cities. Cities boast of a significant economic impact, enhanced media exposure, and improvements in infrastructure. Energy and excitement surround these fun, large-scale sporting events, but there is also an underworld that does not receive the same attention: human trafficking. While trafficking is a 365-day problem in communities across the globe, it is believed that these sporting events are targeted because of the number of people who converge in the host cities. Criminally organized trafficking rings capitalize on the glitz and glamour of these events, knowing that many fans frequent them in an alcohol-fueled environment which too often ends in paid sex activities (Lapchick, 2020).This case provides an overview of human trafficking--a USD 150 billion a year industry (Niethammer, 2020)--and will specifically address how it relates to mega sporting events with particular emphasis on the National Football League's Super Bowl. The case distinguishes the difference between labor trafficking and sex trafficking, and provides and uses data to underline the prevalence of the issue. As students and community members enter the sport industry and volunteer at sporting events, accept jobs as sporting event/stadium managers, coaches, owners, or continue their athletic careers, it is important to be educated and aware of human trafficking, to recognize the signs, and to contemplate personal activism. The case challenges readers to conduct research on future host cities and create an awareness and prevention campaign for a future Super Bowl host committee
