Summary |
Nigel and Jennifer Whalley bought Albury Park in Surrey which was a retirement home. They had managed to mount up 4 million pounds' worth of debt attempting to change the retirement flats into desirable flats aimed at a young professional market. The bank was snapping at their heels to get their money back and the Whalleys were at serious risk of having their home repossessed unless they sold an apartment or two. They did use the house for events but Jennifer and Nigel weren't running the events well and often it would cost them rather than make them a profit.Ruth advised Nigel and Jennifer to make up a show flat to show people what they could buy. She also clamped down on their spending, encouraging them to cut staff costs and other overheads. She implored them to make every event they do a profitable one and to approach their dire financial situation with realism and not be laid back about it and bury their heads in the sand.On Ruth's return we discover if Jennifer and Nigel took her advice. Has Jennifer realised that the events she runs must make money not cost money? All will be revealed...PRODUCTION DETAILS:Country House Revisited is a Betty Production for Channel 4 |
