Summary This program looks at the nervous and endocrine systems which regulate the body. The program explains how bodily functions, conscious or automatic, are regulated through chemical feedback loop mechanisms responding to changes in both the internal and external environment of the human body. In examining the role of the endocrine system, we hear from a young male diabetic who explains in detail the role of the hormone insulin.Vital Systems is a six part series which looks at the major systems of the human body. These include the muscular, skeletal, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, urinary and immune systems. Through the use of clinical images, graphic illustrations and interviews, the programs provide students with an understanding of how these systems work together in sustaining the millions of cells that make up the human body.**Please note that this program/series has been created from masters kindly provided by DECS Tape Services in South Australia. These recordings have been collected over a period dating back to the early 1990s and as such, the picture quality may be of variable standard.**
