Summary |
This case discusses the competition and cooperation between two major modes of intercity transportation, that is, air and high-speed rail (HSR). With the rapid growth of HSR in China, the air-HSR interaction may present in different ways. On the basis of firms' behavior in terms of pricing and output decisions in an oligopoly market, students are asked to discuss how Chinese airlines responded to HSR entry in the early days, the recent cooperation opportunities between airlines and HSR, and the relationship between airlines and HSR in the context of large-scale HSR construction in the future |
