Summary A secondary school demonstrates how they bring environmental issues and sustainability to life through cross-curricular teaching. Whitecross school, Gloucestershire, is an engineering specialist college for 11 to 16 year olds. With the help of Engineering Coordinator David Child, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students take part in green cross-curricular projects across different year groups. Engineering, science, geography, maths and ICT are all taught with the single goal of making the school more sustainable and students more aware of the environment. In Year 7, students design an energy island, experimenting with alternative energy generation. Students become energy surveyors assessing the school grounds. Year 8 pupils conduct an audit of the school's energy consumption, whilst Year 11 pupils lead a school green campaign as part of their citizenship module. Collectively, the teachers and students have created an ethos of sustainability that is built into the fabric of the site and throughout the curriculum
