Educated in the tensions between reason and religion well into the nineteenth century, Pedro Gómez de la Serna Tully (1806-1871) was a Spanish jurist with Catholic virtues, a progressive-conservative politician who questioned codification, without ceasing to be a notable agent of the new constitutional virtues.
