Summary |
Annotation English translations of three major narrative poems and ten shorter texts written in the 14th and 13th centuries B.C.E. in what is now Syria and Lebanon, where they were discovered on tablets in the second quarter of the 20th century. Parallel columns match transliteration of the original cuneiform with line-by-line translation. The texts are supported by introductions, textual (rather than historical or literary) annotations, and a glossary mostly of place and personal names without pronunciation guides. Paper edition (unseen), $14.95. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR |
