Summary |
Deni Daniel and Doug Ibbs don't muck around. The couple, in their mid-50s bought a 19th century manor house in Creuse, in central France, on a Sunday, having seen it for the first time on the previous Tuesday on the internet and visited it on the Thursday.Thrilled with their new purchase, Deni and Doug sold up in the UK and moved to the sparsely populated area, applied for and were granted planning permission and set about transforming the wreck which had been untouched for 60 years. When Deni and Doug bought the property it was barely standing. The roof had long-since disintegrated, the gable ends were unsound, the beams were rotten and the grounds were completely overgrown. Not deterred, this enthusiastic couple decided to tackle most of the building work themselves with the help of a local builder and stonemason. Two and a half years after Deni and Doug moved into the house, Kevin returns to see how they're settling in to their French life.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Written and presented by Kevin McCloud.
