Penny Revolution |
Summary |
In Chiapas, Mexico, Juana - penniless and illiterate, but eager to sell her embroidered clothing to tourists - forms a small group of like-minded women to take a loan to grow their business and improve their lives. Meanwhile, in Ecuador, Maritza's business is doing well - so well, in fact, that her lender decides to travel to South America to witness Maritza's success, resulting in an emotional meeting for both entrepreneurs. In the Dominican Republic, however, Betania is forced to pawn her possessions in order to cover her and other group members payments. Little does she know that one of her lenders, Omar Minaya, is also in the Dominican Republic scouting players for the Mets. While there, Minaya meets Betania and visits her home and business. Betania is overjoyed to have someone so important interested in her life and Minaya is reminded how Betania's life isn't so different from the one he used to know |
