"The photograph album belonged to a crew member of the survey sloop HMAS Moresby, which had been recommissioned in 1933 to carry out coastal surveys in the waters of Northern Australia. The 1934 survey covered the area between Port Paterson in the west, Cape Hotham in the east and Melville Island. As well as providing an important photographic record of the Moresby's survey, it includes images of working life on board and recreational activities on land ; Aborigines, survey camps, topography and wildlife.
