Summary Focusing on the social, economic, and political developments in one neighborhood, and particularly on the origin, growth, and decline of its revolutionary institutions, he shows the impact of the Revolution on its citizens. At the same time, he reveals the contributions of average men and women, the so-called petits gens, to the changes that occurred in France between 1789 and 1795. Originally published in 1984.
