Since the early days of World War II, there has been an urgent call for increased production from New Zealand farms. How will farmland stand up to the strain and still retain their high fertility? The questions might be answered briefly by the statement that the humas content of the soils must be built up, and there must be a progressive increase in the application of phosphatic fertilisers.
