| Summary |
Popular Danish crime series The Bridge returns to SBS in April with a brand new season. Season 2 sees world-weary Danish inspector Martin Rhode (Kim Bodnia) team up once again with young smart yet emotionally disconnected Swedish inspector Saga Noren (Sofia Helen) 13 months after the events of the first season.When a coastal tanker leaves the Oresund waterway and is headed straight for the Oresund Bridge, the Coast Guard board the ship and discover there is no crew, and three Swedish and two Danish youths are chained below deck. Saga is put in charge of the case and contacts Martin, who is still haunted by the death of his son. Soon it turns out the chained youths were just the beginning and that someone wants to direct attention to the changing climate and the use of the planet's resources and will stop at nothing to do it. It turns into a race against the clock to prevent a disaster where many lives are at stake.Saga and Martin are quarantined, but when the test results come back negative, they're cleared to leave the hospital, and thus continue their investigation. They're assisted by a Swedish and a Danish officer, Rasmus and Pernille. Someone posts a video online where four individuals wearing animal masks use signs to claim responsibility for the plague. This coincides with several reported deaths as a result of eating, among other things, poisoned apples. Saga and Martin are quick to connect the two cases. And they realise this is just the beginning. Martin decides to try to confront Jens a second time.
