In 1989, Professors Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons announced that they had discovered the secret of endless, cheap energy by perfecting nuclear fusion in a test tube. Their discovery was dismissed with contempt by the scientific establishment and they fled their academic posts in the USA.
