Summary |
Double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes is sitting for a change, as Rolf Harris invites three accomplished artists to paint the record-breaking athlete's portrait at the Don Valley Stadium's VIP Bar in Sheffield. Kelly made sporting history in 2004 when she became the first British female athlete in over 80 years to achieve Olympic gold in both the 1800 and 1500 metres.Artist Paul Wright works from his studio in an old factory building in Leicester. He paints in oil and describes his work as expressive, immediate and fresh. Artist Glynis Barnes-Mellish runs workshops through the UK and Europe and is self-taught in the medium of watercolour. Glynis describes her style as classic and timeless. Third artist Emily Porter-Salmon is a self-taught painter and works in a variety of media, often setting her subjects against areas of pattern or visual quotation.Rolf follows the progress of each painting until the three dramatically different interpretations in oil, acrylic and watercolour are finally revealed to Kelly. She can take only one portrait home with her, but which one will Kelly pick as her personal best?PRODUCTION DETAILS:Series Producer: Sarah Williams; Series Director: Zoe Callan; Production Company: Hotbed Media, Birmingham |
