The precious stone industry is among the biggest contributors to Madagascar's economy, the country exported more than 26 million dollars' worth of gems last year. De Beers Group was established in 1988 in South Africa, focusing on diamond exploration, mining and retail. The company currently operates in 29 countries, and mining takes place in four countries, three being in Africa. Bruce Cleaver has been the CEO of De Beers Group since July 2016.
