Summary A poetic celebration of country and culture, STILL OUR COUNTRY documents the swiftly changing lives of the Yolngu people of Ramingining in the Northern Territory. Originally conceived as an online installation, this evocative carnival of images and sounds makes a bold declaration of identity and offers a hopeful promise of a future. Although only 600kms from Darwin, Ramingining may as well be in a country other than Australia. It is persistently, almost wilfully, foreign. The people, of a strong, defiant tradition, often speak no English, and struggle to comprehend the madness of rapid change thrashing through their world order. Still Our Country examines, largely visually, offers insight into the ways in which Yolngu culture continues to absorb and adapt to the dominant Balanda (white) culture, yet retains its own identity. The Creative Directors of this collaborative project are Molly Reynolds and Mark Eland. Molly specialises in screen-based storytelling and digital media production. When she isn't earning a living as a consultant in the digital sphere, she makes documentaries, including Another Country, What Makes Me and Twelve Canoes. Mark work as a visual artist and graphic designer has influenced global web development and design over the past two decades. His recent work as a stills photographer and videographer on Still Our Country is an expansion of his talents. He and Molly have collaborated on numerous projects including What Makes Me and Twelve Canoes
