On the evening of February 3, a Norfolk Southern train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, igniting a dayslong inferno, spewing tons of vinyl chloride and other toxic chemicals into the surrounding area, and causing an ecological and public health disaster. This case examines the factors leading up to the incident and asks students to discuss how future incidents can be prevented
