In 1984, as a result of legislation, school council participation in the selection of principals and deputy principals commenced. The book documents the experiences of eight schools: six selecting their principals and two selecting their deputy principals. This must be regarded as the most important case study reference on the topic of administrator selection ever made available in Australia. It will be an invaluable resource for school councillors, selection committee members and applicants wishing to become familiar with all aspects of the new selection process. These included persons from the various school communities, the Education Department and the relevant teacher associations, as well as a number of the applicants
